Chiang Rai Gushu Bai Cha 2024 - White Peony (100g)

.
A beautifully crafted, white tea from the Chiang Rai region of northern Thailand suitable for aging. The tea was harvested in April 2024 from Camellia sinensis, Assamica variety, which belongs to the Gushu category. It is a high mountain tea that comes from around 1000 m above sea level and has been sun dried.

No need to comment on the leaf, check out the photos. The aroma of the dried leaf is honey sweet with a fruity trace.

The flavour of the tea is full and smooth, combining ripe apricots with a hint of citrus, forest honey, meadow flowers and herbs, with a pleasantly sweet aftertaste.

It is this year's tea and already fresh it is delicious. Over time, it's edged down in flavour, slightly lighter in taste, rounder, more herbs added. It is lightly pressed, which should help the aging process. That was my request for the strength of the pressing.

Brewing for 150ml: 6g, 90C, 35-60s, further infusions shorter, say up to 10s and time to add if you want a stronger infusion or when it starts to lose flavour. It's a gushu, so it will last many infusions, but you'll see  :)
